Usually I include a snippet about my life away from the computer (yes, I do that from time to time, stepping away from the computer) in the first paragraph of a post here. This is not one of those days. Today I am linking video that the transcript says contains profane tirades against the victim of a deadly crime by the perpetrator of that crime (I still don’t have audio on my office computer). Defendant’s behavior at sentencing sparks outrage I seriously don’t know what useful I can say about this, so I’m going to write things that are not useful beyond my own personal catharsis. This is a human being, using the term as loosely as possible, who killed another human being through malice, indifference, or intoxication, who has escaped immediate prison or jail because of actions on his behalf by LEO at the scene, and he swears at his victim. He should be going to prison for life, but gets a 182 day jail term that he doesn’t even have to start serving immediately, he gets time to put his affairs in order before going to jail. He got off with not even a slap but a gentle pat on the wrist and he swears at his victim. Facebook post may result in more trouble for Waconda and the original report on his sentencing that was in the Feed today Man gets 182 days for killing bicyclist
From CA a FOIA request was required to find out what was supposed to be a public record. City to Pursue Vehicular Manslaughter Charges Against Driver who Killed Chuck Gilbreth I have lost my links to the original story, but this story outweighs that one. Why did it take a FOIA request to discover what should have been public records?
And another sign of why FL is the most deadliest state in the US to walk or ride a bike for 9 years running, a cyclist riding on a dead-end street is given a ticket for going the wrong way on a one-way street. Orange County bicyclist could face bigger legal battle The cyclist making his first ride in years made the same kind of “stop” he always made in his car and was slapped with 2 tickets. One of the tickets is physically impossible as it was for riding the wrong way on a one way street, when the street was a dead-end… And this post earns the “stupid LEO” tag for today as well as extra ridicule by pointing out which link “won” the tag.
A SC cyclist has a run-in with a set of brass knuckles. Myrtle Beach police investigate bicyclist being punched in face with brass knuckles SC cyclists have been shot at (by a fireman no less), beaten with baseball bats, and assaulted with innumerable motor vehicles, but this is the first time I heard of brass knuckles being used against one.
Update on an impaired driver that killed a cyclist in the Great White North. Driver pleads guilty to killing cyclist, refusing drug test Now if they can just administer a sentence equal to the crime(s)… WoaB has been following this case from the beginning with links to the first reports. I look forward to the final reports of the driver passing away in prison. Hopefully it won’t require LEO witnessing a cyclist’s murder to get prosecution in the future.
And I had to take a break from all this fun and go exchange some clothes that turned out to all be a size or 2 too big, even though they had the same size marking as the same brand and style bought 2 years ago that still fits perfectly. And there was one item in the batch that fit like the old clothes with the same size marking as before… And I got charged $6 plus tax for the “honor” of getting the correct size.
And that is all the news that gave me fits today.
