Right now I have a load of laundry started with several more behind it The weather situation at the camping area (lows of high 30s F to highs of low 90s over the duration of the festival) forced me to pack more clothing than a normal festival trip. Because of that I have more laundry than normal after a trip, combined with having to do a lot of running around yesterday to get the taxes done prevented me from doing the laundry then so I have to do it now if I want to wear clothing. Also I have to wash my sleeping bag because it got muddy the first night of the trip while everything else got covered in dust from the last day of the trip after it dried out. I still would not have traded this trip for almost anything in the world.
A young cyclist is killed in Upstate NY. Boy on bike killed in Gloversville The level of detail in this report strongly reminds me of a UK media report, as if all information other than the existence of the crime is being suppressed.
Not too far away by TX standards from the previous wreck, a cyclist in NH is injured. Bicycle rider hit by car in Hudson As reported at the time of this posting the wreck appears to be a simple left cross, always the fault of the driver. Intersection protocols to avoid, get all the infrastructure right to prevent.
Court case in MA reaches a sad end. Trucker cleared in Northampton cyclist’s death The cyclist was right-hooked at a parking lot entrance, intersection protocols apply to avoid, infrastructure including laws to protect cyclists to prevent.
Court case in AZ results in a gentle caress to the back of the driver’s hand. 5 years probation for woman charged with hit and run Probation after coming as close as possible to actually killing the cyclist but not quite killing him, with all the “not quite killing” due to heroic medical care given at a major hospital in AZ that is unfortunately becoming quite skilled in caring for injured cyclists… I am at a loss for words.
More court action in IL. Man charged in Alton cyclist’s death Drunk driver also impaired by marijuana kills cyclist in wreck of unstated mode… Have I mentioned recently that I hate DUI drivers even more than I hate hit-and-run? More Motorist charged in Alton cyclist’s death
A cyclist is killed on a National Bike Route that is inside a National Park, so the FBI are involved and the driver will be brought up on Federal charges. Baldwin cyclist killed in Mississippi wreck Hit-from-behind, use the protocols to avoid, and you would think that a National Bike Route would already be appropriate infrastructure…
Another dead cyclist in the most deadliest state in the US to walk or ride a bike 9 years running. Titusville bicyclist hit, killed by car identified Another SWSS wreck of a cyclist riding on the shoulder. Hit-from-behind protocols to avoid, and get the infrastructure right to prevent.
A hit-and-run in the Great White North leads to multiple charges against the driver. Cyclist killed in multi-vehicle collision in Scarborough All that to save a few seconds. There was nothing the cyclist could have done to avoid and infrastructure would only have helped if it had been grade-separated.More Man charged in cyclist’s death appears in court and Toronto man faces 7 charges after cyclist killed in major crash also Cyclist killed in multi-vehicle crash mourned by family, friends and this one too Family came first for Henry Mejia, cyclist killed on Kennedy Road
More from north of the border as a cyclist is injured in far West Canuckistan. Cyclist injured in West Vancouver hit-and-run I hope when they find the “driver” that he “accidentally” falls down several flights of stairs… I think I might have mentioned a time or two that I virulently hate hit-and-run drivers? And hey BC legislators, I thought bike helmets were supposed to prevent any and all head injury?
An act of terrorism against cyclists in the UK results in only one injury. ‘Cyclist injured’ in sabotaged New Forest bike event “Someone” put tacks over the route in multiple places and vandalized the route signs, with one person getting a puncture and crashing.
Infrastructure! news from the UK. Cyclists want drivers accountable for accidents The laws would be nearly identical to laws in the EU that shift blame in wrecks to the larger and faster vehicle, holding pedestrians above all others, then cyclists, motorcyclists, and so on.
A bit of the commercial infrastructure that keeps bicycles moving in GA. Bicycle shop owner’s wheels keep turning I have used this shop when I was stationed at Ft. Gordon back in the early 1980s.
And those are all the links that gave me fits today. Tomorrow’s post will be late again as I have a trip to Arlington to make to discuss bike infrastructure with TXDOT.
