Tomorrow’s post will be late as I have to go deal with the city’s problems, and the Feed

I think I might have mentioned that I am being prosecuted by the city for having removed panels from my fence at the order of the city about 4 years ago. I don’t recall if I mentioned that I got a dunning notice from the city about paying the fine and we haven’t even gotten a court date yet. Since the court is closed on Mondays I will take a trip there tomorrow to find out what the deal is on this mess. Since I also have to help write the ritual for next Sunday on that day I won’t have much time to actually write the post, so Tuesday’s post me be coming out on early Wednesday morning…

A wreck just a few miles away from WoaB World HQ in the Beautiful Suburbs of Hell. Bicyclist killed in Balch Springs crash I know this area and while it is quite bike-unfriendly it is also the only through route in an east-west direction for miles in any direction.

Update on a wreck in NY. Family Remembers Accident Victim And the link has changed between filtering and posting and is now a repeat of the link I posted last week…

A cyclist may have been “tapped” by a bus in NY. Police: Bicyclist possibly hit by bus No biggie, the cyclist survived and the driver may not have known he/she hit anything. Just another day in the big city, right?[/sarcasm] Hit-from-behind protocols to avoid or to mitigate damages, and get the infrastructure right to prevent, including keeping buses away from fragile humans riding bicycles.

A wreck in DE has authorities puzzled as to where the cyclist came from. Bicyclist injured in Seaford crash Well, let’s work this one out logically. The driver was in the inside lane, and the impact knocked the passenger side mirror off the car. That places the cyclist in the outside lane, possibly trying to get to the left turn lane in the upcoming intersection. The driver should have been able to see the cyclist easily as he approached the intersection as nowhere was it stated the cyclist lacked legal lighting. While it is possible the cyclist was riding salmon I’m sure the driver would have noticed a headlight where he should only be seeing taillights and mentioned that in his testimony. So I’m going to go with hit-from-behind on the cyclist only leaving the bicycle nearly to completely undamaged as the mirror hit just the cyclist. Protocols to avoid or to mitigate damages, and get the infrastructure right to prevent.

From the most deadliest state in the US a woman riding an assisted bike gets smacked in an intersection. Women riding motorized bike breaks leg in crash Slight plural error in the headline, only one woman was riding that bike. Intersection wreck, somebody ran the traffic control (4-way stop signs) at the intersection, but LEO are not automatically blaming the cyclist on this one because the geometry of the wreck makes it plain that even if the cyclist had run the stop, in order for the motor vehicle to have hit her this hard the driver had to have run the stop in her direction. Intersection wreck, but protocols would not have been any help because the driver violated a traffic control after it was already too late for the cyclist to avoid the wreck. Given that following the directions of the installed infrastructure was beyond the capabilities of the driver of the weapon vehicle I don’t think changing the physical infrastructure would have changed anything except where the cyclist was hit. Something needs to be done about the quality of driver education and licensing to prevent another wreck like this.

Finally an OH cop gets the law right. Driver cited after hitting man on bicycle The driver hit someone legally using the sidewalk (OH gives sidewalk riders the same rights and duties as pedestrians) and got a ticket for “failure to yield”. To avoid use intersection protocols and to prevent get the infrastructure right.

An OR cyclist gets clobbered by a motor vehicle. Bicycle rider killed in collision near Eugene Apparently there were people watching the guy demonstrate his assisted bicycle and as he was turning around he drifted into traffic at the end of the block.

SWCC wreck in AZ. Tucson bicyclist dead after riding in front of SUV No cross street listed or parking lot named as the place the cyclist was crossing from. Assuming the report is accurate intersection protocols to avoid, otherwise use the hit-from-behind protocols. And get the infrastructure right to prevent.

A wreck in Oz had a high-ranking member of the government assisting the first aid. Australia’s new PM breaks off bike ride to help injured rider Nothing on the mode or anything else, just that the PM was JRA and saw the wrecked cyclist.

A wreck injuring an Israeli celebrity in Israel. Israel Prize laureate badly injured in hit-and-run Hit-from-behind protocols to avoid, and get the infrastructure right to prevent.

Infrastructure! news from the Beautiful Suburbs of Hell. The City of Garland Addresses Bicycle Safety: See Video I see I’m not the only one to have survived a vicious wreck inside the city limits of Garland. I got a permanent limp and eventual knee and hit replacement, he got a permanent reduction in breathing capacity and the eventual loss of a lung.

Infrastructure news on a national scale. The Gorilla in the Room Until we do something about the gorilla in the room, people will keep dying.

And those were all the links about bicycles that gave me fits today.
