And it appears the entire post just vanished when I hit publish. I’m tired, I will try to figure out what happened in the morning

Yeah, that happens sometimes. The best defense is to always highlight the text, and click “COPY” , BEFORE hitting the “SEND” button.
Then there is a backup copy in the Cache Memory. You would only need to use the “PASTE” function to get your text back.

I thought all those times I saved the post while composing it would have provided some form of backup, but the old “post edit history” seems to be another thing that went away with the latest “upgrade”.
