I better win the lottery tonight

Because my foot is absolutely THROBBING from the little bit of walking I did yesterday, basically to and from the bus stops. So it turns out walking almost a mile with what is essentially a broken toe isn’t a good idea, whodathunkit? So since I’m suffering all this pain just to get the ticket there better be some payoff that is worth the pain.

And since I can’t proceed with the plans I have already made I have been making more plans for the TGS2 that I can’t fulfill. Since I can’t sit still and I can’t move forward I run around in circles to fool myself into thinking I’m getting something done. It’s terrible to try and fool myself that I’m actually doing something when I’m not, really. But the alternative is something like stepping in front of a train or bus. I’m not planning on that, but that is pretty much the choice, either fool myself I’m getting something done or end it all. Or just write stuff in a blog which I guess falls under the “fool myself I’m getting something done” category.

Of course if I win the lottery I will have the resources to actually do something, roughly $144k/an after taxes and the agreed-upon division of 1/3 each for me, Mrs. the Poet, and the house/cats. Mrs. the Poet has medical issues she needs to deal with, I have medical issues I need to deal with, and the house and the cats have deferred maintenance/medical issues to deal with, and probably after all the deferred issues have been at least started to be dealt with next thing is doing something we want instead of just what we need. Then I can start actually building the TGS2 instead of just writing about maybe building it someday.

Just a short health report

I took the bus to the lottery ticket store for about 0.8 miles (1.3 km) of walking with my broken toe. There was some pain even for me but nothing I couldn’t deal with even with that much walking. I probably didn’t need it but I took an ibuprofen before I left. There are two points of discomfort on the affected toe, one on each side of the knuckle, and bruising reflecting where the pain is along the length of the toe. I find this interesting, because I see myself as an experiment in progress and everything is data.

What makes the pain and bruising interesting is how I got injured in the first place. I was walking down the hall in the dark and the cats had put a big wrinkle in the rug, that I couldn’t see and caught my toe in the rug. Now if I didn’t know what a broken bone feels like my first guess would have been that I did something to the knuckle since I didn’t make contact with anything solid. But the knuckle doesn’t seem to be injured, while there is injury on either side of the knuckle that feels like a break. Now how I managed to do this I have no clue, but I did it. I’m not proud of it, but I do accept responsibility for it. Tl;dr I broke my toe in two places and I don’t know how.

Well the pain kept disturbing my sleep last night, so I’m going to hit the sheets now.

I do stupid things sometimes

And yesterday was one two of those times. First stupid thing was extending my walk after ordering the hone I needed to install the kingpins and spindles on the axle. The second stupid thing was refusing the ride home after I started hobbling instead of walking. I can barely walk now because of the pain in the balls of my feet. I walked for 4.4 miles last night which is about 2 miles more than normal. Since the end of May I have walked more than 33 miles which averages out to 2 miles a day, and there were days I couldn’t walk because of pop-up showers in the evenings. But there were 2 extra-point check-ins on my mobile game that gave me an extra 70 points for checking in. That’s the equivalent of an extra 14 check-ins over and above the 25 I get per day, so you can see why I would want to get those check-ins. If I grab a bunch of those I will be back in the black for the weekly $1 gift card. Now the smart thing to do would be to catch the bus to the Wendy’s and order fries and drink soda all day while I walk back and forth between the two extra point check-ins and collect 245 points in 8 hours. That’s almost 10 cents! 😀 and right at 2 miles, and I could take the bus home or within 0.4 miles of home.

I have made zero progress on the TGS2 outside of buying the hone, that will be here tomorrow afternoon. Seriously, I can’t even think right now because of the pain. That kinda worries me, because I’m the guy who wrecked his knees and barely felt it, pulled a couple of my own teeth without painkillers, only took a painkiller because they made me on my last operation, and only needed one on the previous operation. Having something hurt this bad must mean I destroyed something. In fact I think I will take a little lie down because my feet hurt so bad.

Still stuck in the house

I’m still stuck in the house with a bum foot, and still stuck on moving forward with the hot rod. I tried to get up early and get the presta adapter but walking was like sticking nails in my foot. Significantly smaller nails today than yesterday but going from 20 penny to 10 when you prefer none is a difference without a significance. Or to phrase it differently, slightly less pain is still more pain than I would like.

Moving forward on the hot rod requires either having the parts from the donor car which isn’t here yet, or scale drawings of the parts I need to figure out which rear caliper I’m going to end up using. I mean I know which caliper I’m going to be using for my parking brake but I’m still unsure of which end of the car they are going to be mounted on. If I can’t fit them to the Chrysler knuckle I’ll use this bracket kit to mount them to the front spindles, or if I can put them on the back like they are supposed to go I can use any of a number of big brake kits on the front axle.

Well I’m out of things to discuss and out of time to post them anyway.
