More evidence the receptionist at the massage place is sweet on me

Or that she’s freaked out by me, I can’t tell. Anyway, I get all scrubbed and shampooed and ready to be massaged, and I walk into the massage place and the receptionist comes from out of the back, and she’s all smiles and guides me to the room right away. I tell her I need to use the restroom first, so I leave my bag with my stuff in the room. Then she runs, (not just hurries, but flat out sprints) to get the massage tech to the room, and I don’t even have time to get undressed before the tech is knocking to come in. Notice at no point in this exchange has there been any opportunity for me to pay.

So I get on the table and pull the sheet over my butt and tell the tech I’m ready, and when she comes in I explain about my neck malfunction and hip problems and she asks about my socks and I tell her I have cold feet, this is of minor importance later. So she gives me a massage, lots of attention to my neck and head, also lots of work on my glutes on both sides, particularly the ones that rotate my upper thighs and make my knees point in and out on the outside of my butt. She does the hot stones on my butt (very nice, highly recommended) as well as all over my neck and back. Meanwhile the hole in the cushion I’m supposed to breathe through is mashing my chin and also my nose so I can only breathe through my mouth, but my forehead is nicely supported and my neck is perfectly aligned. This works out great for when she does my neck which it felt like she spent hours working on, but I know was only several minutes, with Arthur Dent getting a real workout. Anyway, by the end of the massage I have almost 180° of rotation in my neck.

Anyway, backside is rubbed to perfection, now comes the first “fun” part, rolling over. The tech gives me a helping hand and in the process leaves my crotch exposed for most of the operation, about 30 seconds. She looks but because of all the damage I took since the turn of the century, nothing happens, at least for me, or that I can detect for her either. Then she starts on my face and the rest of my head, really working on my scalp/skull/forehead. During this my sinuses decide to open and the sound of the pressure equalizing between the atmosphere and sinuses rings in the quiet massage room and momentarily deafens me, but the tech barely quivers at the noise. It’s mostly inside my head so it probably wasn’t even noticeable for the tech. Then she’s on to doing that “rub the back of the neck from the front” thing and works over Arthur Dent again even better this time. I think she might have felt it the first time through and decided that’s what I was telling her about at the start of the massage. Anyway, she did a (good) number on it and that’s most of the reason I had such a good range of motion at the end of the massage. And the tech did a stimulating colon massage which caused me to pass gas for a while during and after the massage, lots of work on my upper quads and lower abs that also really helped my range of motion for my legs, and she removed my socks for a really good foot massage that had my leg twitching like a frog in a Leyden jar (look it up this was the 18th century experiment that was the basis for the original Frankenstein novel) because it hit so many reflex points on the soles of my feet, then she put my socks back on.

Remember when I said I wasn’t asked to pay at the beginning of the massage when I was rushed off to the room? Well the receptionist didn’t tell the massage tech, who tried to get me rehydrated and breathminted and out the door without asking to get paid/tipped, and didn’t seem to understand when I wanted to you know, actually pay for the massage. It took a few minutes to get it across, because the usual procedure was to pay up front. And that’s the story of how I avoided getting a free 90 minute massage.

Weather is here, wish you were beautiful

And yes, that is both the punch line to a joke that is older than I am and a description of the current weather. Seriously the back yard is a swamp again, but at least it’s not hot. You can drink the air through a straw, but it’s a cool damp. The condensation drain from the AC looks like an open faucet it’s pulling so much moisture from the air inside the house, and the indoor weather station says our humidity is roughly 60%. It’s still pouring rain but not like the usual summer deluge we get in TX.

I went to do the banking and get a massage yesterday, but it wasn’t easy. But then again when is anything easy lately? Anywho I got to the bank no problem after summoning a Lyft. Oh jeeze I just read that and it totally sounds like some arcane spell from D&D or Shadowrun. Back to the subject, I got to the bank and deposited a check for Mrs. the Poet, and checked to make sure the payment I sent to the brain doctor went through, and also checked my checking balance. The tricky part on that is did the transfers to my other accounts go through before or after I pulled the balance? If it was after then I have less than $100 in my account for the rest of the month. If it was before then I’m fat, dumb and happy, balance-wise. I had enough to go get a massage either way, so I summoned another Lyft (woo-wee-hoo /spooky music) and went to my usual massage place that has the good techs that get all my sore places better, but they’re closed until Monday so their techs can enjoy the holiday according to the person who answered the phone when I called standing outside the locked door to the establishment. Then I walked across Beltline to another establishment that was rated the same as my usual place only to find that they were booked solid until an hour before their 2200 closing time. I did a quick search and found one about 2 miles closer to home and on the way home, but it wasn’t rated as good as my usual and there was some question about what kind of massages they gave. But with my everything hurting and needing rubbed I decided to take a chance on the place and techs working there.

Well it wasn’t the best massage I ever got but it was far from the worst. The biggest problem was I requested a 90 minute massage to get all my achy places rubbed, and instead I got the same places that usually get rubbed and don’t need much rubbing getting rubbed over and over again until they were really overdone. Like almost injured over rubbed. But given the situation I can’t complain too much, I just didn’t give much tip, and I probably won’t go back there. But my massage budget for the month is gone and I still have aches and pains.

As the tags noted I’m daywalking again because of the interaction between the meds and how I sleep has shifted me to waking in the pre-dawn darkness instead of the middle of the afternoon. Actually I’m waking up about the time I used to go to bed before, and going to bed about when I used to have lunch before. So, literally daywalking again. And for those confused, daywalking is a vampire term for vampires who can survive exposure to the sun. I’m not a vampire, but when I was doing the cleaning up ad copy gig I went to bed about 0500 and woke up whenever, usually when I had to pee. So I was on the vampire sleep schedule even though I wasn’t one, actually. Some people call it the graveyard schedule because the work shift most of the people on it are working is called a graveyard shift. But with the sparkle-pires and other vampire related literature including the movie Blade, which is where I first heard the term daywalker, vampire schedule has had a literal life outside of fantasy literature. It’s just a different way to describe those of us working in the dark. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be awake during the day and sleeping at night, but I intend to take advantage of the situation as long as I can.

And I think I’m out of things to say, so time to put this post to bed.

Massage finally achieved, bank balances fixed, new tea cup broken

The beginning of the new year was mixed for me. Yesterday I made a 6+ hour journey to pay the mobile bill, deposit checks to multiple accounts, and get a massage. Most of that was waiting for and getting the massage, because there were already people getting a massage tying up the massage techs, and I got a 90 minute massage that concentrated on my neck and glutes (both of which were a disaster), but there were also long waits for the next bus and my unwillingness to pay for a ride share service. Let’s face it even with no wait taking the bus is twice as long as ride share or just driving, when you factor in waiting for the bus to get there between doing things and transfers you take what would have been maybe 2 1/2 hours and make it over 6. I left home before 1500 and got home after 2100. 💩 I do have to say the massage got all the kinks out of my neck for the rest of the day, it’s just that it took so long to get the rest of the day was like just a couple of hours. 😭

Now on the bank balances, while I was depositing the checks via the ATM I also checked the balances of the accounts I could access via the ATM, and some of them were way off. I had set up an automatic transfer from the checking account to the savings account, and there was almost nothing in the savings account when there should have been the $300 I had transferred from the checking account, and there was way too much money in Mrs. the Poet’s checking account. Her account was fine, it was just that our combined stimulus check had gone to her account and we had to have my $600 transferred to my account. My accounts for some reason the automatic transfer didn’t transfer automatically on 1/1/2021, so we had to go in and manually transfer the money that should have gone to the Tax Payment account and the Big Ticket Item savings account. The bank guy had no idea why the money didn’t go where it should have, because the transfer notice was right there on the accounts, but for some reason it didn’t happen.

Now as for my new teacup, Mrs. the Poet was putting away the dishes and jostled the cup rack trying to get a clean cup on the rack, and my Cossie Rallycar cup fell off. As you can see it’s repairable, but not in a way it could be used for drinking tea from.

The break goes right across the bottom of the cup which basically means my Cossie Cup will no longer hold hot liquids, like tea. That chip in the rim was the impact point and is just dust where the cup hit the stove. And I just checked and there are no more Cossie Cups available, the last one was sold last month. Mrs. the Poet is why we can’t have nice things. I will say I have a cup that was a gift from one of my customers at the convenience store/gas station I worked the fall of the year Mrs. the Poet earned her MRS degree that we still have. Seriously, I got this stupid Starsign cup over 40 years ago, and I still have tea from it sometimes, but my Cossie Cup I paid the big bucks for didn’t last 2 months 😭

And the new composing software won’t let me resize the pictures like the old one did. I could specify 500 pixels wide on the old software, but I’m stuck with what WP gives me with the new… Anyway, I hope y’all have a good 2021.

Nasty thing I wanted to say to Trump followers deleted, you are welcome.
