I kept getting woke up by noises and pains. And the odd twinge and muscle spasm.
At least now I’m not bothered by engineering problems I can’t solve without access to a computer for parts information and a calculator for other problems. As in there are multiple OD ratios available for that T5 gearset upgrade and one I think might be too tall for the Sprint-T. That would be the 0.59 ratio that comes standard with the upgraded gearset. With the difference in diameter between the race tires 23″ and the street tires 27″ is like throwing in another gearchange so the top gear spins the tires at like 235 MPH at redline in 5th and dividing that out to convert it to a RPM/MPH and then multiplying by cruise speed gets me below idle RPM until 33 MPH.
I think I’m getting EGT sensors and tuning 200° lean of peak at cruise, for gas mileage. And changing the A/F ratio until I get best average power as determined by idle to redline pulls in 2nd gear. Which means to 61 MPH because that’s what redline in 2nd works out to. So since I don’t need a precise number I can just put the car in 2nd rolling onto the onramp of a freeway and time how long it takes to get to redline from idle in 2nd a few times on the same onramp and change the fueling a bit and try again in a few minutes and see if I’m quicker or slower to redline. I’m sure the people living close to that onramp are going to love my tuning sessions. I should probably make sure I install an effective muffler.
On the frame changes, I think the most structurally efficient way to get the diagonal braces installed is to let the intersection with the hoops curve at the same radius as the bend in the hoops so the diagonals fall in the same plane as the uprights.
And just as I was finishing that thought my computer locked up for about an hour. I couldn’t get the browser to change tasks, or anything else like shut down, or open a file, or pretty much anything except be shiny. And now I’m pretty much about to shut down myself having spent all my spoons trying to get the computer functional I think I’ll finish my beer and take a nap since it’s about 0600 which is functionally like roughly 2200 to me on my sleep schedule. but before I do that I’ll publish this post.
The numb spots, or the spots that used to be numb are now uncomfortable to the touch, and it takes much longer typing before my hand gets too painful to use the keyboard. so, improvement and definite signs of healing. I have equal spread from my left hand compared to the right again, another sign of healing.
While I was looking for something else on the web I found a couple of images that were… interesting
If you look close you can see Wide 5 hubs on the front suspension, but unlike recent NASCAR Modified class cars it has a 5″ coil spring and a separate shock absorber on the lower A-arm. I guess it could be an IMCA or other sanctioning body car that has been changed over to Wide 5, or it could be a Late Model car. Either way that body has been widened a ton, at least a foot if not more. The deets on the build are here . I also found some more pictures at the original listing, that I might put up later.
And the hand is starting to hurt again after downloading all the pictures I didn’t put in the post today.
This has been a very bad week for my nerve pain on my injured leg. Pain has been mostly pressure/crushing in nature with varying degrees of intensity ranging from “shoe too tight” while barefoot to “elephant swing dancing on my arch”. What makes this harder to deal with is most days I either don’t have or barely notice nerve pain, and the fact that there is currently no medication that will deal with the nerve pain without knocking me out as well. In fact I think the “side effect” is the only effect, it doesn’t so much treat the pain as render me unconscious so I don’t experience pain. The only time I take that particular medication is when my quality of life has gotten so bad that unconscious becomes preferable to otherwise and I’m not in the mood for suicide. At this point I’m not suicidal over the pain, I can “put up” with a lot. And when I can’t “put up” with it I have the knockout pills to use until whatever it is that’s causing the pain changes so I can “put up” with the pain.
Speaking of long-term effects from getting hit by a motor vehicle, we have an update on a wreck a few hours ride east of WoaB World HQ in the Beautiful Suburbs of Hell. Injured cyclist released from rehab facility Wishing this fellow cyclist a speedy and relatively pain-free recovery, and hoping for no long-term problems down the road.
Further update on a CO right hook. Boulder agrees to pay injured cyclist $30,000 I think they just got off super cheap if this was for actual damages.
